Meeting Alert!

Cranston City Council will be voting on the Lodges at Phenix Glen

Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 7:00pm at Cranston City Hall, Council Chambers on the 3rd floor.

The first step is to say “NO!” No to out-of-scale buildings, to increased density and traffic, to a drive-thru, to more burden on police, fire and school, to the part of this project that simply feels wrong and will forever change the character of where we live.

We know that you are busy but remember this: if we do nothing today, we’ll be living with this development forever.

Please speak up in person! Attend the May 2nd meeting in the Council Chambers. The most important thing any community can do is to show up. Commit to bringing your family and your neighbors and commit them to bringing their neighbors. Power in numbers! PLAN TO STAY!!!

If you believe this does not affect you, think hard. Perhaps today the battle is on Phenix Avenue. But one day soon, with this outsized development as precedent; you might be living next door to a Home Depot. This isn’t just a fight to protect one place today it’s a campaign for a better future across our city. And in the end, speaking out on this matter takes very little time, costs you nothing but may be the most valuable thing you can do to speak up for your rights as a citizen.

Since our country’s founding, we’ve been a place where people come together to change the course of history. We can change history right here in Cranston.

How can YOU say NO?

1) Send and email or make a call! Even if you are able to attend, please do this!! It’s easy and takes only a few minutes. We include all the contact information here! Please call or write ALL city wide as well as our own Ward 4 and our neighboring Ward 5 council members.

The Lodges at Phenix Glen

Real estate developer The Procaccianti Group is seeking a major zoning change at the intersection of Natick and Phenix Avenues (the former Del bonis Sand and Gravel site).

This proposed development will consist of 192 rental units in three, 4-story towers each approximately 60 ft. high, a 5,850 square foot clubhouse as well as over 7,200 square feet of commercial space including a drive-thru which can be used for a take-out restaurant.

This development is substantially at odds with the City Comprehensive Plan and requires a range of variances including height (21 feet above maximum), density, set-backs and drive-in uses.
